Once again I’m heading up to Mammoth for the races.  I actually am entered in the Masters class but the A class is not where I envisioned myself.  The last couple of years I had to ride with the 40 year olds. Mammoth will always be fun no matter which class I end up racing. I had several recognitions in mind but injuries to perspective racers had reduced my presentations down to two. With no time to prepare any others two will do.

I have had Donny Emler, founder of FMF, on my list to recognize for quite some time.  I was not sure if he would be at Mammoth but I had his ready.  We raced a lot together back in the Bay Mare Hopetown days when he was riding American Eagles.  In 1973 he started the FMF machine and it has grown exponentially over the years into the giant worldwide industry of today.  He has helped many racers over the years through his products and sponsorships keeping motocross as well as all forms of motorcycling advancing through the years of technological improvements.  I found his son in the pits and explained my endeavor and he said he would be glad to accept for his dad.  Cooool!!!

My other recipient is a guy who grew up in the San Fernando Valley named Butch Baum.  He was a member of the first Schwinn National BMX Team.  If you Google him there are all kinds of old school photos on BMX bikes as well as moto.  He is truly a pioneer in both sports and deserving recognition.

The racing was awesome and the Monster crew kept us hydrated.  If you haven’t tried the rehab drinks check them out.  The newest drink has a citrus flavor and is very good.  I could be prejudice because my family grows citrus but check for yourself. They are only 10 calories and have electrolytes. They work for me!!  My presentations went well during the awards for the day.  Once again I have to thank Mammoth, Laurey Carlson and Mike Colbert for allowing me to do my recognitions during their event!!  I managed to survive all 4 motos and had a great time in the process.  I hope by next year I’ll be riding more.

Next stop Hopetown reunion and then A DAY in the DIRT followed by Catalina if in fact they can pull it off!!!!!    See ya at the races………CB
